    The origins of Loch Ness go back 500 million years…to a very different world. Journey back in time with us to discover the origins of this famous loch over a period of half a billion years.

    On the 14th April 1933, the legend of ‘Nessie’ got a new lease of life in this very hotel building. We explore some of the most famous sightings of the Loch Ness Monster, starting with Mrs Aldie Mackay – the manageress of the Old Drumnadrochit Hotel.

    At 23 miles long and 754 feet deep, there are secrets hidden deep beneath the surface of Loch Ness. To try to uncover these secrets, we delve deeper into some of the scientific research carried out by Adrian Shine of The Loch Ness Project.

    After exploring the myths, the legends, the sightings and the science… we revisit the evidence presented to you and hear from those passionate believers who have dedicated their lives to the Nessie. We also open up the debate to find out what you believe.

This one-hour cinematic and immersive experience takes you on a captivating journey through eight uniquely designed rooms that explore both the myths and true stories surrounding the legendary Loch Ness Monster. Blending storytelling, atmosphere, and interactive elements, the experience brings centuries of mystery to life.

Private tours are available, along with scheduled foreign-language tours and an audio guide offered in nine different languages, ensuring an engaging visit for guests from around the world.

For more than 40 years, The Loch Ness Centre has been home to The Loch Ness Project, Adrian Shine’s groundbreaking mission to scientifically investigate Loch Ness and its legendary monster mythology.

Today, we continue to work closely with Adrian and a new generation of ‘Nessie Hunters’ to make sure the search for Scotland’s most famous resident lives on.
