We are Magrio González and Iris Serrano. We grew up in Argentina (South America) in the early 1990s surrounded by science magazines and television documentaries about amazing topics. Long before we met, we were both amazed by the story of the Loch Ness Monster.
We’ve lived together for over 15 years and always had that childhood dream of traveling to Loch Ness. The best way we found to fulfill that dream was by making a documentary about Nessie, Nahuelito (a similar monster that lives in Lake Nahuel Huapi in Argentina), and about the possibility that an living plesiosaur existed.
This documentary began as a personal project that grew as we met historians, researchers, palaeontologists, cryptozoologists, and journalists while we discovered exciting stories about other similar monsters.
In 2023, we got married and went to Loch Ness on our honeymoon. The staff at The Loch Ness Centre were very kind to us, opening the doors to this incredible place filled with stories. We were able to film, conduct interviews, and navigate the loch on the Deepscan vessel. We also interviewed Alan McKenna of Loch Ness Exploration.
We do not seek to refute neither to confirm the existence of these creatures but rather to show the people and stories that surround these legends.
We are much more interested in humans than monsters. We also try to point out fantasy as a driving force of science. Cinema, literature, music and myths as an impulse or excuse to generate interest in biology and nature.
The documentary premieres at the Buenos Aires Independent Film Festival (Argentina) on April 7. Our next dream is to screen it in Inverness or Drumnadrochit someday.
