This summer, skip the rush of the city and head for the mythical heart of the Highlands – Drumnadrochit. Tucked beside Loch Ness, this village is full of history, local charm, and breath-taking scenery.
Here are just a few reasons why it should be Drum (as the locals call it):
Explore the local area on two wheels
e-Bike hire from Loch Ness Hub is a fabulous way to explore Glen Urquhart. Whether you wish to take a leisurely cycle around the village and take in some of the excellent local cafes, or you are feeling more adventurous and want to cycle some of the forest trails, and visit scenic viewpoints; this is a fun adventure to include in your visit to Loch Ness.
Shop local at Drum Farm Gallery & Gift Shop
Looking for something special to take home? Drum Farm Gallery & Gift Shop is a treasure trove of locally made crafts, art, and souvenirs. From original felt painting to Highland cow inspired gifts, it’s the perfect place to find something with a Highland heart.
Unlock the monster – Tour & Cruise with The Loch Ness Centre
No visit to Drum is complete without diving into the legend of Loch Ness. Start your adventure at The Loch Ness Centre, where our signature tour takes you through decades of research, hoaxes, science, and speculation. Then, step aboard Deepscan — the very vessel used in the famous 1987 sonar sweep — for a cruise across the mysterious waters of the loch, guided by sonar and storytelling.
As you glide past the iconic ruins of Urquhart Castle, keep your eyes peeled… you never know what might be lurking beneath the surface.

Raise a dram with Kenny in The Whisky Shop
Right next door, Kenny (who used to work at The Loch Ness Centre) hosts whisky tastings that take you far beyond the basics. With years of stories and a passion for a good dram, he’ll guide you through some of Scotland’s finest single malts, all with a touch of Highland humour.
From July onwards, tastings will run twice daily at 3pm and 7pm, Saturday to Wednesday, with a maximum of 16 guests per session. Advanced book is recommended with a cut-off time of 30min before each tasting. To book email whiskyshop@cobbs.info
Classic fish & chips at Fiddler’s
After a day of exploring, head in to the village for a British classic – fish & chips at Fiddler’s Loch Ness Craft Bar. The family run spot is a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike. Eat in or take out, but don’t forget the tartare sauce.
Dinner & drinks at The Loch Ness Inn
Just a short stroll from the village centre, The Loch Ness Inn is the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring. Their seasonal menu celebrates the best of Scottish produce – think Highland venison, fresh seafood, and hearty vegetarian dishes – all served in a warm, welcoming setting. Pair it with a local ale or a dram and you’ve got yourself a proper Highland evening.
A fresh new look at The Drum Hotel
Start your stay in style at The Drum Hotel, now beautifully refurbished with a modern Highland touch. Whether you’re just stopping by for a coffee or staying the night, the new interiors blend traditional character with contemporary comfort – the perfect base for your Nessie-hunting adventure.
This Summer, Make it Drum
From legends to local flavour, Drumnadrochit is the perfect Highland base. Whether you’re here for a day or a few, there’s more to do than ever – and the village has never looked better. Come for Nessie, stay for the stories, and leave feeling just a little more connected to this special part of the world.
