Sighting 1: Seal Spotted Near Urquhart Castle

On 7th October, our skipper of Deepscan captured a fantastic shot of a seal surfacing near Urquhart Castle. In a classic ‘bottling’ position, the seal seemed to be resting peacefully on the surface, providing a unique spectacle for those lucky enough to witness it. This seal, possibly hunting for salmon near the River Oich, brings to light the rich wildlife that often stirs up excitement at Loch Ness. Could it be the same one that has appeared in recent months? Either way, it’s a beautiful reminder of the many natural surprises the Loch holds.

Sighting 2: Spectacular Views on 24th October

Later in the month, on 24th October, our skipper once again captured another compelling sight from the Loch. This time, it was a view bathed in an atmospheric October light shining through the clouds. Though not a “Nessie” sighting, this serene scene, with its calmness and scenic beauty, serves as a wonderful backdrop for any search along the Loch’s mysterious waters. These breath-taking sights make each trip memorable, whether Nessie decides to make an appearance or not.

Sighting 3: A Blurry Image near Dores

A Blurry Image near Dores Beach for a Nessie sighting

Towards the end of October, a visitor shared a rather blurry photo reportedly taken near Dores. The lower portion of the image seemed to suggest a location consistent with Dores, identifiable by the narrow road and surrounding vegetation. Though the image quality makes it difficult to confirm anything definitive, it’s worth noting that the area is dotted with buoys and markers, any of which might have been mistaken for something more enigmatic. Nevertheless, these occasional sightings remind us how easily the mind can be led astray in Loch Ness’s intriguing environment.
